Before yesterday’s game, George Anthony Foster, known to some as George, by others as Tony, but by everyone affectionately as “Brummie” was presented with an engraved silver salver in honour of the years of service he has given to the club in his previous role as groundsman.
Both teams formed a ceremonial guard of honour for Brum as he entered the pitch to receive his award from club chairman Darryl Williams.
Next month Brum’s beloved pitch will be ripped up and replaced with an artificial 3G surface, in accordance with the club’s ambitious plans for further development, providing of course, Brum doesn’t decide to do a one man protest and lie in front of the bulldozers !!
