Our season ends where it began, with an away trip to Pontypridd United. However, this time the stakes are much higher for the Silkmen, with Cymru Premier league survival the prize.
So, it’s all or nothing for Lee Fowler’s side as they know they must at least equal Aberystwyth’s result to continue their tenure in the top flight of Welsh domestic football.
That first meeting on the opening day of the season ended with a 1-0 win for the Silkmen, and a repeat of that scoreline would be just great, but Ponty have improved considerably as the season has progressed, with their January transfer window signings, in particular, helping the team to turnaround their fortunes. They secured their own Cymru Premier status with a 2-1 away win at Caernarfon last Saturday. Our subsequent 3-2 home midweek defeat against the Cofis mean we still have work to do. The manner of that loss, particularly in terms of some of the refereeing decisions that went against us on the night, will hopefully have fired up the Flint side for this crunch game.
Missing through suspension will be Jay Owen and Bobby Beaumont, whilst Ponty will also be without Jack Williams and Luke Cummings.
Kick off at the USW Sports Park arena is 12-45pm and you can follow our fortunes via the club’s official Twitter account @flinttownfc
