Flint back in action this weekend

By Nigel Sheen
The JD Cymru Premier resumes this weekend and on Saturday we travel to Jenner Park where it will be a battle of the Town United’s when we face Barry.
In a thrilling encounter earlier this season we emerged 3-2 winners, but we know we shall have a fight on our hands to get a result in this return fixture, especially as we will have to do so without top scorer Michael Wilde who is serving a suspension. Also missing through suspension is Ross Weaver, whilst the unfortunate news for Danny Harrison is that he looks to be out for the rest of the season following an injury sustained at Newtown.
In Wilde’s absence, Mark Cadwallader is expected to continue in the side, and he will be hoping to carry on where he left off in our last competitive fixture, when he fired in a brace in the 4-3 defeat against Caernarfon. Caddy also netted the only goal in last Friday night’s behind closed doors friendly at Ruthin, who pushed the Silkmen all the way in what was an excellent work out for Neil Gibson’s team. And we thank Ruthin for being able to accommodate us with the game.
Our visit to Barry last season resulted in a 6-3 defeat and marked the end of Niall McGuinness’ tenure as manager. We expect another tough match this weekend, but will be hoping our defence are much more solid this time around.
On Tuesday night we host Connah’s Quay Nomads in the eagerly awaited Deeside derby. Kick Off for that one is 7-45pm. You can purchase tickets in advance via the website.
