This afternoon Flint enter this season’s Welsh cup competition with an away tie at mid Wales tier 3 side, Caersws. The match is being streamed live via Sgorio’s YouTube and Facebook channels and we’re pleased to say it will be being shown in our Social Club, so fans can come down and watch it together over a pint or two. Kick off is 5-15pm.
The Bluebirds of Caersws currently lie fourth in the Ardal North East league, although they have three games in hand on the leaders, Cefn Albion and are just five points behind them.
Playing on their own pitch, they will fancy their chances of causing an upset, which is no doubt why Sgorio have chosen to televise the tie live. Within their ranks, they have ex-Newtown player Neil Mitchell, and just last week they visited Flint, beating our tenants Flint Mountain 3-1 in the FAW Amateur Trophy.
So, Silkmen boss Lee Fowler will be under no illusions that his side will face a stiff test and that no complacency will be allowed to creep in amongst his players. It was a welcome sight for Flint fans to see both Okera Simmonds and Mark Cadwallader back in action last weekend and both should be included again in today’s squad.
