We at Flint Town United are delighted to be a part of The National Lottery Football Weekends. If you are a National Lottery player you will be able to come and watch our home match on the weekend of either 26/27th March or 2nd/3rd April (dates to be confirmed once phase 2 fixtures are released) with a friend and get one of the tickets for free.
As fans, you know full well how damaging the pandemic has been to clubs like ours. With a halt in the football calendar and no gate revenue there were serious fears about the future of many clubs. Thankfully National Lottery players stepped in to protect many local football clubs, providing £12.5million of support to clubs in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
As thanks for the essential support, 231 clubs in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland are now taking part in The National Lottery Football Weekends. Each club will, for one home fixture in March or April, run a special ‘Buy One Get One Free’ ticket offer for National Lottery players to take someone – potentially for the very first time – to a game.
The campaign will be delivered in partnership with the Vanarama National League, The FA (Football Association), The Scottish FA (Scottish Football Association) FAW (Football Association of Wales) and NIFA (Northern Ireland Football Association) and is also backed by well-known ex-footballers Ally McCoist and Karen Carney.
Club Chairman Darryl Williams said :
“National Lottery players play a vital role in supporting our national game, but especially at non-league and grassroots level. Here at Flint, we pride ourselves on being a club that is closely connected with the local community, and it is thanks to the emergency funding during the pandemic that we were able to keep going, and to continue delivering the projects that make a real difference to our fans and the wider community.
We look forward to welcoming as many fans as possible to our dedicated game, once the fixtures have been announced. It would be great if as a result of this promotion we were able to welcome new supporters to see their first match here at The Essity Stadium and to get a real taste of how fantastic local football is.”
Former Scottish international and National Lottery Football Weekends Ambassador McCoist said:
“In nearly every corner of the country you will find a football club which does much more than just kick a ball around on a Saturday afternoon. These clubs make a difference to so many in their community and they suffered perhaps more than any other part of our game during the pandemic. The support of National Lottery players has been crucial in helping them survive and now you can support them again, but this time from the terraces.”
More details on how to take advantage of this offer will be published in the run up to the designated match day, but, in the meantime, to find out more about The National Lottery Football Weekend visit www.thenationallotteryfootballweekends.co.uk/FAQs
