With the transfer window well and truly open we can report some comings and goings within the Flint Town United squad.
We are pleased to welcome new signing Rhys Kavanagh, who joins from Penybont. Rhys has moved north due to personal circumstances and Lee Fowler was delighted to land the 24 year old right sided attacker ahead of several other clubs who had shown interest once they knew he was available. A former professional with Bristol Rovers, Rhys signed for Barry Town United in the Cymru Premier, after a recurring injury had forced him to quit his professional career. He subsequently moved to Penybont at the start of the current season.
In order to balance the budget, Flint boss Fowler has had to let certain players go as he reshapes his squad or the remainder of the season.
This has led to the departure of our longest serving, and highly popular, first team player, Mark Cadwallader. Announcing the news on his twitter account, Caddy made the following statement “I would like to thank @FlintTownFC for the last 6 and a half years. Some great and challenging times. The club has come a long way. Big thanks to the committee, fans, past and present managing staff and especially the chairman. All the best for the rest of the season”
All at Flint Town United would like to thank Caddy for his tremendous loyalty and service to the club and wish him well in his next venture, as we’re sure he’s not quite yet ready to hang up those scoring boots of his !
Fowler has also announced the depratures of Jack Hindle and Elie Akobeto, both of whom joined the club during the close season. Meanwhile, he has confirmed he is currently working on bringing in one or two more fresh faces, but those deals have yet to be finalised.
