Ahead of today’s big game against Haverfordwest, Flint have been boosted by the news that First Team Manager, Lee Fowler, and his Assistant, Iwan Williams, have signed new deals to keep them at the club.
After sitting down with the board and the chairman to discuss a longer term plan and vision for the club. Lee said “Since we have been here, we have invested so much time and effort into the club, and have built good relationships with the people that run it, from Board level to the volunteers. It’s important to me that both parties can trust each other as we continue to grow and develop together.
“We both knew how tough of a job it was when we took it over and what a tough job it will continue to be moving forward
“Iwan and myself have worked extremely hard and have tried to do it all with a smile on our face. We have embraced every challenge head on and feel that how we work reflects the club, it’s volunteers, fans, board the chairman and the town – hard working, honest, loyal.
“We have outlined what success looks like for Flint Town United, in the short term middle term and long term.
“We are custodians of the club, and whilst we may never get to see the long term plan come to fruition, we can be part of the short and medium term, and that excites us”
Iwan added, “I’m delighted to be staying here at Flint Town United. I’ve enjoyed every minute, regardless of the challenges faced. From Day One, it’s a club that has continually grown on me. It matches my values, in terms of being industrious, hard working and finding solutions when having to deal with adversities. We are working on a plan regardless of what happens this season, but we’ll first of all embrace the battle to stay in the Cymru Premier. Thanks to the Chairman, the Board, the Gaffer, and of course the supporters who have taken me in as one of their own!”
Chairman Darryl Williams commented “I am absolutely delighted to have persuaded both Lee and Iwan to extend their time here at Flint. Since they both walked through the door on day one, they have been a breath of fresh air, and it’s been a pleasure to work with them. No one underestimated the task facing them when they took on the job, with hardly any players left from the first team squad from the previous season, with only a few weeks to go until the start of the new campaign. But they set about their task with gusto and enthusiasm. And for us to still be in with a good chance of retaining our league status at this stage of the season, speaks volumes for their drive and commitment. I believe they are a great fit for the club and I look forward to working alongside them as we continue to drive the club forwards”
Today, of course we face Haverfordwest in a game which could play a major role in our bid for Cymru Premier survival, so a good show of support by all of the Flint Town fans this afternoon would be a welcome boost for Lee, Iwan and all of the players as they look to bounce back from last Saturday’s agonising defeat.
