“After Saturday’s opening game it was great to come away with the 3 points, after so much work had gone in, in such a short space of time. This was not only on the pitch, but from all around the club, the Board above me and also the volunteers, it’s been all hands to the deck. Their roles and work is as of equal importance to the club as that of the players.
I’m glad the fans watching the game at home on TV would have had something to smile about, after us getting the 3 points
We prepared properly all week, with our match prep and travelling down the night before made a massive difference to the result, especially with the heat.
In the game itself, we restricted them to very few chances and there was one great save from Dawid in the second half. But on the chances we created, we should have scored two more goals ourselves. The lads worked hard, stuck to the game plan, and in the end, got their rewards.
However, we are under no illusions as to where we are at. The hard work needs to continue, there’s no room for complacency and consistency is key. That will be our message this week, leading into the Newtown game on Friday which will be a tough one after their 0-0 draw with TNS.
It’s always good to get off to a decent start, but that is all it is, we won’t allow the group to get ahead of themselves as there is a long season ahead but you have to enjoy moments such as as Saturday when you can, as in football you never know when the next one will come.
