Match Preview : Flint v Nomads 25/01/22

By Nigel Sheen
It’s the one we’ve all been waiting for, the big Deeside derby between Flint and Connah’s Quay Nomads is finally here (Tuesday evening Kick off 7-45pm)
The Silkmen, who are currently third in the table, will be looking to gain revenge over the Nomads after suffering a Welsh Cup exit against them earlier in the season, and in the process gain another valuable three points in their bid to secure a top 6 finish at the end of phase 1.
However, they know it will be far from easy against Craig Harrison’s side, who have lately been hitting their stride, and looking more like the team that won the league last season. The Nomads did, however, suffer a 3-1 defeat to The New Saints last Friday night, and will be keen to avoid back to back league defeats.
We come into the game buoyed by a gritty, determined display at Barry, where a fine Mark Cadwallader goal, his third in our last two games, proved the difference. Ex-Nomads stars Michael Wilde and Danny Harrison will be unavailable to face their old club, with Wilde still serving a four game suspension, whilst Harrison is ruled out for the rest of the season through injury. Flint will be further depleted with the loss of skipper Alex Jones and central defender Kai Edwards, who are both serving one game suspensions.
Nomads’ new signing, John Ufuah, is in line to make his debut for the club against us. The speedy winger has joined Connah’s Quay following spells with Whitstable Town, Margate, Carshalton Atheletic and most recently Merstham in the Isthmian League Premier Division.
