Tomorrow (Sat 18/03/23) sees us welcome Pontypridd United to the Essity for the second time this season, their previous visit being the final game in Phase 1, in January. On that occasion, Flint ran out handsome 4-1 winners, with debutant Zach Clarke grabbing the headlines with a hat-trick.
In the interim, Ponty have also strengthened, bringing in several loan signings from Newport and Cardiff, as well as signing Ben Margetson from Kidderminster Harriers, who scored the only goal of the game last weekend when the Dragons beat Caernarfon Town.
Pontypridd are unbeaten in Phase 2 thus far, having secured 10 points out of a possible 12, including staging a remarkable comeback in their match at Aberystwyth, when they recovered from 3-0 to snatch a 3-3 draw, with three goals in the final 10 minutes plus added on time. So Flint will have to be at their best to bag all 3 points on offer tomorrow, with a tight game in prospect.
Anthony Stephens returns to the Silkmen’s squad following his two game suspension, in a timely boost for Lee Fowler.
Tomorrow’s game had been designated as our match in support of the Football v Homophobia campaign, as we once again emphasise that discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity and expression has no place at any level of football.
We shall also be honouring the memory of Ray Marshall, prior to kick off, a long serving club volunteer who sadly passed away last weekend.
Kick off is 2-30pm.
