Welcome to our latest signing – Darren Stephenson

By Nigel Sheen
Forward Darren Stephenson becomes the latest arrival at the Essity Stadium, ahead of the new season. Previously with Farsley Celtic, Jamaican born Darren began his career in youth football at Bradford City, making his senior debut for them in March 2011, having been promoted to the first team squad just two days before. In August 2012 he moved to Southport, but then made a permanent move to Chorley in December 2012. He played 157 games for the Lancashire club, scoring 62 goals. More recently he played for Chester, joining the Deva outfit in November 2022, scoring 10 goals in 63 appearances.
Manager Lee Fowler had this to say about his latest signing “Darren is a player I looked at in January. I watched him lots of times when he was at Chester and I believe he will add power and pace to our front line. He has good references from within the game from people who have worked with him, and he also brings with him some great experience.
I’m looking to bring in one more player, a defender, to complete the squad. I believe that competition for places is now healthy all round, and is just what we need.”
