Fowler announces Backroom Appointments

By Nigel Sheen
Lee Fowler has today confirmed his backroom staff.
He has appointed two first team coaches to work alongside him. Iwan Williams, the ex-Caernarfon Town and Llandudno manager joins from Chester FC, where he was on the coaching staff of the Deva club, whilst our own Academy Director, Danny Bell, steps up to take on additional duties with the first team whilst continuing with his other roles within the club. Iwan is a UEFA Pro Licence holder, the highest UEFA coaching accolade whilst Danny has recently been awarded his UEFA A Licence.
Williams commented “I’m delighted to be returning to the Welsh system as I feel I have unfinished business at this level, and I’m particularly pleased to be joining a great club like Flint, whom I nearly joined on a couple of occasions during my playing days. I’ve known ‘Fowls’ for a long time, as he played for me at Caernarfon. As soon as he started talking to me about his plans , it got me excited and I wanted to be part of it”
Of his new first team coaches, Lee Fowler had this to say “Iwan will bring valuable insight with his in depth knowledge of the Welsh Premier league and of his more recent experience in the English system, and he will certainly strengthen our recruitment. Having worked with Iwan as a player during my stint at Caernarfon, I can certainly vouch for the fact that his passion and enthusiasm will match mine”
“Danny has been very highly spoken about from people whom I trust and respect at the FAW, and following my first meeting with him, I could see he was ready and willing to make the transition up to men’s senior football.”
“I think all three of us will complement one another very well, so that both Danny and Iwan’s strengths will compensate for any of my own weaknesses and vice versa”.
Stepping up to the role of First Team Analyst is Morgan Edwards, another vital cog in the backroom staff as he will supply the necessary detail for the matchday preparations and support the players with their own individual development.
Fowler added that with all three key positions now in place it would allow him to concentrate fully on his managerial duties and allow his support staff to have ownership of their roles.
Finally, we also welcome Steve Garnett to the club, who has joined as Head of Recruitment and Scouting.
We wish all of the new appointees every success in their roles, in what should be exciting times ahead for the club.
