Anthony Stephens is our latest arrival

By Nigel Sheen
We are pleased to announce the arrival of experienced Cymru Premier defender Anthony Stephens to the Essity Stadium. Anthony previously played for Bala Town, and the club announced he was leaving Maes Tegid at the end of May. He had two spells with the Lakesiders, spanning a six year period.
He initially came through Wrexham’s youth ranks before going on to play for both Prestatyn and Colwyn Bay, before joining Bala for his first spell in 2015. A three-year stint with the club would came to an end in an unfortunate manner following an ACL injury but having made a successful recovery he rejoined the Lakesiders almost six months later.
Whilst with Bala, Anthony won the Welsh Cup putting in a standout performance in the final, and he also played in their first progression in European competition featuring in the team that overcame Valletta in the Europa League first qualifying round in 2020.
On his latest addition, Flint manager Lee Fowler had this to say, “Anthony is an established player in this league. He has that winning mentality and also has the experience of playing in Europe. He is somebody that I’ve watched closely and followed his career since he was a young kid at Wrexham, when I was there as a pro. He has subsequently developed and forged a well established career within Welsh football. I’m really looking forward to working with him and he will give us great balance on the left side of defence.”
